If you are one of the millions of people who are moving this year, you are probably investigating the feasibility of hiring a mover. However, finding a reputable moving company can be a challenge. These are a few tips to help you.
Set Your Moving Goals
Before you start searching for moving services Burlington NC, you need to write down your moving goals. When do you plan to move out of your home? Try to be somewhat flexible, giving yourself a few days on either side of your target moving day. Will you need storage before you can get into your new home? What is your moving budget? Also, determine whether you will pack or if you will pay for the moving company to pack your belongings.
Inventory Your Belongings
Most moving companies will need and take an inventory of your possessions. They use this inventory to provide a quote based on the weight of your items. A reputable moving company will either do a physical or virtual walk-through with you. Show them what is in every drawer, closet and storage area, so they can provide you with an accurate estimate. Inform them about any items you plan to donate, sell or otherwise get rid of.
The movers will also ask questions about your current and future home, including whether they will need to move things up or downstairs and what your door measurements are.
Research Experience
Avoid any company that has recently changed its name. Look for companies that have a long history of success and few or no outstanding customer complaints. Review their customer reviews, and ask for copies of their licensing and insurance. Ask the companies for references, and be sure to check them.
Get Quotes
Ask each company whether it will stand behind its quote, and ask about extra fees. Do not pay a deposit. Choose a company that requires payment when your belongings are delivered.
If you do your due diligence, you should be able to find the right moving company for your needs.
