Valentine's Day at Romeo and Juliet's house in Verona is possible with Airbnb

There are still a few weeks left until Valentine's Day arrives, but the Airbnb rental platform comes forward and raises a worldwide contest whose prize is to spend a night at the house that inspired the story of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's most popular play.

To participate in the contest, you just have to meet a series of legal requirements, register on the Airbnb page and send a letter in English to Juliet, sharing the love story of the candidates and explaining why they would be the perfect guests.

The winner of the contest will receive a one-night stay on February 14, 2020, at Juliet's house in Verona, Italy. An evening that includes a romantic dinner prepared by a Michelin star chef and other optional activities such as a tour of Verona.

In addition to the stay and the visit to Verona, the prize includes the opportunity to be a member, for a few hours, of Julieta's club, a group of volunteers that is dedicated to answering the love letters that reach Juliet. Thus, the winners of the contest can also read some of those letters that arrive daily and answer one of them.

The custom of sending love letters to Juliet began in the 1930s when Ettore Solimani, the guardian of Juliet's Tomb, began to gather the first letters that people left in the grave and, moved by this phenomenon, began to respond, thus becoming the first "Juliet's secretary".

With that beginning, the Juliet Club began in Verona in 1972 from an idea of ​​Giulio Tamassia and a group of artists and academics united by a passion for the legend of Shakespeare.
