Flowers are a joy, regardless of the season. If you have a garden, it means that you can admire them from spring to autumn, depending on the species. A flower garden is a real delight for the senses, and the strong and delicate scent cheers your soul every morning.

1. Snowdrops

When we first see the small white heads of snowdrops coming out of the snow, we know it is a sign that winter is coming to an end. These fragile-looking flowers are actually very hardy, and the colder the weather, the longer they last, some blooming even in March. These snowdrops are bulbous plants, native to Europe and Asia. They have 2-3 long, thin, dark green leaves. The flowers are white and appear one on each bulb, especially in early spring, but sometimes in the middle or end of winter, which makes snowdrops the first flowering bulbous plants.

2. Daffodils

These flowers have a special, very strong scent, which is why it is not a flower loved by everyone. The main feature of the flower is the shape of the trumpet, although it is known that there are more than a thousand varieties, which differ in colour. In the language of flowers, the daffodil expresses friendship, joy, vacation. It is considered a flower of children and adolescents. It is given at the birth of a child, symbolizing the joy of welcoming a new life. As a flower of love, the daffodil expresses sincerity.

The yellow daffodil is a plant also known as snowdrops. Only the petals are used from this plant, the bulbs being toxic if they are administered improperly. Due to its calming, emollient, pulmonary antiseptic, disinfectant properties, yellow narcissus is used as a white narcissus to treat nervousness, anxiety, cough, diarrhoea, tachycardia.

3. Hyacinths

Hyacinths originate in Turkey. They were originally brought from the Netherlands from where they spread throughout Europe; hence the name Dutch bulbs. They are among the first flowers of spring, delicate, coloured in purple, white, yellow, pink, blue, simple or beaten, with a strong and pleasant scent. Hyacinths are not absent from the gardens of country houses, but not only, but we also find them in abundance in early spring in markets, in flower shops, both as cut flowers and as potted flowers. Hyacinths grow from bulbs that are planted in late autumn, before frost for 3-4 weeks. It is recommended to plant them in groups, but not very close to each other, at distances of 10-15 cm, to obtain spectacular colour effects in the garden.

4. Tulips

Made famous by the Dutch and loved by many people, the tulip is a very beautiful spring flower, being available in many colours or shapes. Tulips need an extended winter for hibernation, in a moist place and well-drained soil. The tulip flower is single on the stem, comprising only 5 or 6 petals, or 6 sepals arranged in a circle. The tulip is cup-shaped and is about 10 cm. The flowers appear in mid-spring. The petals can be different colours, such as white, purple, pink, red, yellow, orange or even green.

5. Common lilac

The common lilac has been a source of inspiration for many artists over time. Impressionists Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet have famous paintings depicting the beauty of the lilac flower. The lilac is planted in spring or autumn and blooms only the following season.

From year to year, the lilac becomes richer and more fragrant if the shrub receives proper treatment. For long life, a lilac flower longs for the sun for at least half a day. Fix it close to the walls or fences facing the sun most of the time, but not glued because the roots need space to spread.
