Spruce your home with updated classics
I’ve always admired the art of restoration though I’m ashamed to admit that I never knew what to do with old fabric and furniture and they ended up thrown away or sold at the thrift market. Austin based design studio SpruceHome has made a nice growing business from transforming “orphaned” antique furniture pieces, mainly re-upholstering vintage chairs and sofas with eye-catching fabrics.
In the golden afternoon sofa, $2,500.00 USD , SpruceHome:
Founded in 2007 by owners Amanda Brown and Lizzie Nguyen, Spruce developed from SpruceHome Etsy Shop to Spruce Austin - Furniture Redesign Studio where the Sprucettes teach upholstery classes and record instructional videos. Their offer also includes vintage pieces such as lamps and beautifully detailed tables that took on a glossy fresh paint as well as cushions, pillows and lampshades made from the same designer fabrics used for upholstery.
Combining solid background in art and the love for vintage home décor Spruce team brings out the beauty of old pieces that would pass unnoticed otherwise. More so they are more than willing to share their knowledge so that anyone can apply the upholstery makeover to their homes.
